Arthur Hunt, has been a resident of Yeppoon since 1996 and received the Livingstone Shire Council Citizen of the Year award in 2015,
Arthur retired from the Queensland Public Service in 2005, having served in the Department of the Premier and Cabinet, the Department of State Development and the Department of Communities.
He has had a varied career in secondary education, university administration, the Australian Taxation Office and the Public Service. He was a secondary school Principal for nine years in Papua New Guinea and the Solomon Islands and has worked in three Australian universities.
Arthur holds a Bachelor of Science degree, Master of Educational Administration degree, Diploma in Business Management and Certificate IV (Training and Assessment)
He joined Yeppoon Flotilla of the Australian Volunteer Coast Guard Association in 2007, served as Administration Officer in 2008–2010 and as Flotilla Commander in 2011-2017.
In 2010, he was Secretary of the Capricorn Coast Solar Bulk Buy Group which resulted in installation of 47 systems, whichwas followed by a second group which installed over 100 systems.In 2015, he organised an Energy Saving Expo.
He compiled and distributed a free Sustainable Housing e-Newsletter for six years and now writes a fortnightly column on the Climate Emergency for The Spectator magazine.
He has been an active member of Uniting Church in Yeppoon since arriving in 1996, and also a member of the Capricorn Coast Bicycle User Group, Capricorn Coast Land Care. Capricorn Conservation Council, the Local Marine Advisory Committee of GBRMPA and Solar Citizens.
